Welham Finishes F1000 Season on the Podium

Congratulations to GCD sponsored Rob Welham who has claimed 3rd place overall in the 2021 Swallow Hill Homes F1000 series following a dramatic final weekend at Snetterton.

Rob, from Sproughton who races with the Jedi Racing Cars Team went into the final race weekend of the season sitting in 5th place, 42 Points behind the leaders.

Following a 2nd place finished in Race 1 and stunning victory in Race 2, Rob went into the final race of the season still with an outside chance of claiming the overall championship along with 3 other drivers.
Rob said “At the start of the weekend it looked like I was out of the running, with such a big gap to the leaders, but to be in with a chance of the championship with one race to go shows just how close and competitive the drivers have been this year”

Race 3 saw Rob make progress from the grid to get up to 3rd, pushing hard for second – ut with tyres beginning to grain had to settle for 4th. Still enough to secure a thoroughly deserved podium place for 2021.
